Last Saturday morning I woke up with one mission and one mission only. To convince Rob to go with me to the Nike outlet store in Straiton (I had seen a pair of light pink trainers that were calling my name). After only a tiny bit of convincing we got into the car and off we went. After seeing that they did indeed have my pink trainers in my size I bought them and happily thought that they day couldn’t get any better. BUT IT COULD MY FRIENDS, OH IT COULD. Because I remembered that we were close to IKEA, which is very close to the Secret Herb Garden that I had heard so much about.
Five minutes later we pulled up at the Secret Herb Garden and let me tell ya….it’s amazing. First of all, who doesn’t love a greenhouse? Secondly, who doesn’t love to have some cake in a greenhouse? Thirdly, it reminds me of our wedding (green, farmlike, cosy).
Anyways, we wandered around, then found the cafe and then sat down to enjoy our food in the greenhouse. The sandwiches and cakes were beyond delicious and I’m not just saying that. I know this is a big statement but I feel like that was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m serious. The bread was so soft but moist (ew, that word) at the same time. And it was filled with chicken and avocado and bacon. AND THAT CAKE. It was peanut butter and chocolate. The baker actually commented on my Insta photo so creds to Ilaria- @ilaria.marsigli. You bake some good cake.
Apparently they’re also expanding their grounds soon so I can’t wait to go back in the spring or summer! The only downside right now was that it was a teeny tiny bit nippy in the greenhouse, but what do you expect in 2 degrees in late November? I have seen that they do hosted dinners sometimes and have the heaters on. If I manage to ever get tickets for that you bet it’ll be all over my Instagram. I think this could be the nicest place I’ve come across in a really long time. Made it even better that it was unexpected. If you’re bored on a Saturday or Sunday morning head over there- you won’t regret it!
