I’ve said this before…I’m a bit of a makeup and skincare junkie. I don’t post pictures of my makeup clutter often on Instagram (mostly because I’m embarrassed of the mess) but I still read through my favourite beauty blogs on a regular basis and can’t help but get excited when a new collection is released. The one brand I got extra excited about was Glossier, just like everyone else on the interwebz. When they finally came out with the news that they were finally coming to the UK I was all YAAAAAS QUEEEEEEEEEEN! This is also a bit weird for me because most of the time I work from home and don’t tend to wear make-up so why do I get so excited about buying more products that end up collecting dust?! I dunno and I don’t care.
Anyway, back to Glossier. As soon as they launched that beautiful day in October I hopped right on it and ordered the following items: the Phase 1 Set with the Milk Jelly Cleanser, Priming Moisturiser and Balm Dotcom in Birthday, a Boy Brow in Blond and a Moisturising Moon Mask. Pretty good base order if you ask me.
So, what do I think of these products? I’ve been putting them to the test for about six weeks now.
Here’s my verdict:
Milk Jelly Cleanser – Hmmm…I don’t really get the hype with this. Yes, it doesn’t irritate my skin. Yes, it’s gentle. Yes, it’s got a nice texture. But does it do anything?! I keep this one in the shower and use it on mornings when I want an “extra cleanse” from the night before but I’m finding it to be kind of unnecessary for the price. I’m not sure if my skin would feel any less soft using something else. Also, I despise the scent. It does NOT smell like roses. I’m yet to try taking my makeup off with it but I have a feeling it won’t work (maybe that’s because I need a foaming face wash). I’m sceptical but I’ll try it and update the post soon.
Priming Moisturiser – This was probably the product that surprised me the most. The only reason I bought it was because it was in the set so I thought why not? I LOVE this. It really is like a moisturiser and primer in one. I mostly use it as my daytime moisturiser since it sinks in really well into my skin and doesn’t dry it out. You can literally put makeup on a minute after applying it, it’s great. And it also makes my skin super soft. I know once I run out of this I’ll be longing to get another one. Win!
Balm Dot Com – I got mine in Birthday, which I don’t regret at all because it smells like the birthday cakes I used to eat at parties when I was a kid. Just for the nostalgia factor, I’d get it again. Other than that I feel like it’s kind of like a vaseline or 8 hour cream but in a nicer tube. Not sure if it has any actual benefits for my lips/elbows/cuticles except for creating a barrier. But I do like it, and I use it more than I thought I would. Even though my handbag is full of lipglosses and balms this is the one I’ve been pulling out the most.
Boy Brow – In short, I like it. A lot. I used to only use Benefits Gimme Brow but since that has been recalled due to irritation or something, I’m glad I have the Boy Brow. In my eyes, they’re identical. I would even say that I like the brush more on the Boy Brow than the Gimme Brow. It creates fullness and is a nice finishing touch after using a brow pencil. Been using this every day and would repurchase again.
Moisturising Moon Mask – I’m on the fence about this one. I’ve only used it a few times but I think it irritates my skin, which doesn’t happen often with products. Every time I apply it my skin gets really itchy for a few minutes and then stops. But when I rinse it off my skin is very soft, like the mask claims it should be. I’m not sure if the itchiness is worth the softness because I’ve got other masks that do similar things, like the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.
NOW- ONTO ONE MORE THING! What also came with the first order was a sample of Glossier’s first fragrance called You. I’ll cut right to the chase- it was love at first sniff. Honestly, I’ve never smelled anything so delicious. So naturally, as soon as they launched the large size I was ON IT and ordered it in lightning speed. It’s kind of musky but also soft at the same time- wish I could describe it better. But it’s an awesome everyday perfume and I’ve been using it constantly since I got it. Honestly, it’s worth getting in touch with Glossier to ask for a sample of this because it seems to be quite a universal scent that everyone would like. Out of everything I got this was definitely the winner!
Will I order from them again?
In short, yes. There were some standouts that I know I will use up and want to repurchase, like the priming moisturiser and You perfume. I like the packaging, fun stickers and bags they come in but I don’t think I’ll go testing out every product because I’m not sure I need it. Plus I have a drawer full of the Ordinary products that need used up before 2024 (need.to.stop.shopping). That being said, I do have my eye on their oil shower wash. If it’s anything like the L’Occitane one I’m all in! Also hoping it smells like their perfume hehe. If you’ve tried any Glossier products that you love please let me know! I’m still intrigued by this brand…
