Over the weekend one of my best friends Eleonor came to visit from Stockholm. We used to work together and would literally spend every day together for over three years so it’s been weird not having her around. She’s visited me in Edinburgh before but the weather was absolutely terrible so she didn’t get a chance to get a proper feel for the city. This time around we got super lucky with the weather!
My weekend actually started on Thursday evening since I had taken the Friday off. So Charlotte, Daniel and I got together for a drink at The Garden, which is a part of the Principal hotel by Charlotte Square. This place is literally my favourite spot for drinks now! It’s huge, meaning you won’t be crammed in there with a thousand others, it’s got lots of plants and it’s not busy (probably because a lot of people don’t know it exists).
On Friday morning Eleonor Schmeleonor arrived so we went to Dishoom for breakfast- something I’ve been wanting to try for ages and it was definitely not a disappointment. Then we had intentions of walking up Arthur’s Seat but only made it up the crags instead. Oh well, at least we got a nice walk in and tons of photos. The light was so good!
On Saturday I took no photos at all, which is probably a good thing considering it basically consisted of prosecco so…
We started off by brunching at The Refinery, which I would not recommend for brunch. All of us were semi disappointed with the food. My pancakes were super crispy and hard and everyone else who had eggs benedict/florentine/whateverthey’recalled said the eggs were too hard. After our meal we went back to The Garden and spent most of the day there and then spent the rest of the evening at a few different bars before heading home at 10 pm’ish and passing out.
On Sunday Eleonor and I chilled at the flat before having breakfast in town and then she left me at noon. So that was basically my weekend summed up. Here are some pics before I continue rambling.
