5 Beauty Products I Cannot Travel Without

We’re off again on a weekend break to Cannes tomorrow that’s become a tradition with our friends (see last years post here). I’m currently in the middle of planning on what to take with me. Slightly more restricting when I only have a carry-on but it won’t be a big problem because we’re only away for 3 days. Whenever I travel there are a couple of so-called staple items that I will almost always have with me. Below are my top 5 must-haves for travel, whether its for a short weekend trip away or a longer holiday.

Dry shampoo

If I had to have one item come with me, it’s dry shampoo. I really don’t want to have to wash my hair every day so dry shampoo is a saviour. I picked up this OUAI Dry Shampoo Foam in NYC last month and I really like it- it gives me a lot more volume than other dry shampoos do. I’m not sure if I would repurchase it since it’s pretty pricey. Other canned dry shampoos that I like are the Batiste ones but for traveling (especially with only carry-on) I almost always just take baby powder with me which works great for me as I’m a blonde.

Rose hip seed oil

This rose hip seed oil by The Ordinary is absolutely amazing! I started using face oils a couple of years ago when I picked up the Khiel’s Midnight Recovery Oil. I used that one only at night and when I ran out I decided to try some other ones. I finally found this one, and I’ve gone through two of them already in the past 6 months. I find this to work better than a normal moisturizer on holiday because it really sinks into the skin and I swear it helps maintain my tan. If I ever go on a “cold weather” holiday (don’t think I ever will, but never say never huh) then I know I’ll bring this along because it’s the only thing that keeps my skin from getting super dry in the winter. Holymoly grail.

Hair oil

Since my hair is semi-long and I bleach it frequently, it tends to get very dry. Instead of traveling with a bunch of different hair conditioners and products I only take one hair oil with me which works as a deep conditioner, anti-frizz and hair mask. I didn’t take this particular hair oil with me but I’ll always have a small travel sized hair oil with me. My favorite one is the Moroccanoil hair oil.

MAC Fix +

Not only is MAC Fix + great for touching up makeup, wetting sponges or brushes, but it’s also nice to have a refreshing spray when you’re not wearing any make up. These tester sizes are perfect because they don’t take up a lot of space and aren’t heavy. And according to the MAC lady I spoke to, they’re refillable.

Small eyeshadow palette

I’ll always, always, always travel with a small eyeshadow palette instead of taking big palettes or single eyeshadows with me. I used to travel with the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette for years but I think this Tarte Tarteist Pro to Go is my new favorite. The shades are perfect for the summer. The tanner I get, the more I tend to lean towards warmer tones and these are just lovely. I’m so glad I got this! And it’s tiny! I found it in the travel section at Sephora.
